Strengthening Our Commitment to Grid Resilience and Customer Affordability

DLC’s 2025 Corporate Responsibility Report highlights investments in community well-being and a clean energy future for all

Duquesne Light Company (DLC) announced today the release of our 2025 Corporate Responsibility Report, highlighting how we’re strengthening reliability, supporting customers and investing in the long-term resilience of the Pittsburgh region.

The report provides a comprehensive review of DLC’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) work, including updated year-over-year performance metrics of long-term ESG targets. It demonstrates progress toward major infrastructure investments; the impact of energy efficiency programs that help customers electrify and save money; and efforts to reduce our carbon footprint for a healthier environment.

The report also shows how DLC responded to new challenges in 2025, laying the groundwork for continued focus and action in 2026.

“Everything we do is rooted in our responsibility to serve our customers and communities, and that commitment has only deepened as our region faces increasingly volatile weather, higher demand for energy and economic pressures,” said Christine Waller, DLC’s vice president of communications and corporate responsibility. “This report demonstrates exactly how we’re evolving our programs and operations to meet these challenges and continue providing safe, reliable and affordable service.”

Strengthening Grid Resilience and Supporting Customers

In 2025, DLC announced a $2.7 billion investment through 2030 to strengthen the grid and modernize aging equipment for increased capacity and reliability. We also brought the new Watson substation online to enhance resiliency in downtown Pittsburgh and deployed advanced technologies like solar-powered distribution line sensors to improve outage response.

At the same time, DLC expanded our focus on supporting customers amid ongoing affordability challenges. We helped customers access nearly $6.5 million in utility assistance and continued to grow programs that help customers manage their energy use and reduce costs, including the successful pilot of Peak Saver and Smart Charging reward programs, now in their second year. DLC also realigned our corporate giving strategy and volunteerism to focus on basic needs and workforce development, contributing nearly $2 million to local nonprofits and logging more than 4,500 employee volunteer hours across the region.

DLC also advanced initiatives to support our region’s long-term environmental well-being and help more customers adopt clean energy technologies. Our teams processed a record number of interconnection applications for residential solar panels and launched a free heat pump training program for local HVAC professionals.

The complete 2025 Corporate Responsibility Report is now available online. You can also learn more about DLC’s ongoing work to support local communities and a clean energy future.
