Duquesne Light Company’s Microgrant Program Powers Community Growth and Impact
Company will award funds to nearly 40 local nonprofits to support environmental justice, education and social equity
Duquesne Light Company (DLC) is continuing its tradition of giving back to the community by awarding 37 local nonprofits with microgrants through its Community Impact Grants (CIG) program — an annual initiative that recognizes and rewards diverse, grassroots nonprofit groups serving communities in Allegheny and Beaver counties. This year’s awardees stood out for their compelling initiatives focused on environmental justice, education and social equity. Funding will benefit efforts such as community gardens; K-12 STEAM programs; climate resilience; and programs that support food access and refugee and housing assistance.
Since launching in 2021, the CIG program has funded nearly 100 organizations with more than $800,000, with approximately 84% of the groups identifying as diverse led.
“DLC is proud to support our local nonprofit partners and the economic vitality of our region, enhancing the quality of lives for those we serve,” said Angela Feldbauer, DLC’s manager of environmental, social and governance and corporate giving. “We received a record number of submissions this year, showcasing the deep commitment from Pittsburgh’s diverse nonprofit organizations to make a positive impact for our communities.”
