DLC’s Rhyan Cochrane Receives 'Men of Excellence' Honor
Named to New Pittsburgh Courier’s 2026 “Men of Excellence” list
Rhyan Cochrane, director of substations and grid protection & control at DLC, has been named one of the New Pittsburgh Courier’s 2026 “Men of Excellence.”
Each year, the Courier recognizes African American men over the age of 40 who demonstrate leadership, professional achievement and service to communities in western Pennsylvania. Honorees were celebrated at an Aug. 21 awards ceremony at the Sheraton Pittsburgh Hotel at Station Square.
“We congratulate Rhyan on this well-deserved recognition and are proud to celebrate this achievement with him,” said Brian Guzek, DLC’s vice president of operations. “He leads by example, both in his role at DLC and his service to our employees and communities. His passion for mentoring others, building connections and creating opportunities for growth reflects the values we strive to uphold every day.”
At DLC, Cochrane helps lead the teams responsible for maintaining and enhancing critical electric infrastructure that supports safe and reliable service for customers across our service territory.
“Receiving this recognition gave me an opportunity to reflect on my personal journey, and it’s a reminder of the importance of support from family,” Cochrane said. “Professionally, it’s reassurance that my efforts to set an example of uncompromising integrity are noticed, and it’s opened my eyes to the fact that people are watching, and they view my contributions as impactful.”
Cochrane also serves as director sponsor for BRIDGE, DLC’s Black and African American business employee resource group (BERG). In that role, he supports initiatives focused on professional development, employee engagement and fostering an inclusive workplace culture.
“Nothing spurs the advancement of a culture, community or business quite like personal growth and development,” Cochrane said of his involvement in BRIDGE. “The BERG programming at DLC allows us to strengthen the positive impact on our team members and the communities we serve in ways we never thought possible.”
